Please join us at our floral gardens for a creative, fun and informal mini indigo workshop and garden tour. We will discuss the history, lore, mystery and magic this ancient blue dye . Vat preparation and etiquette will be demonstrated and a variety of Japanese Shibori resist techniques will be presented. You will receive an organic cotton shawl to create your own original design and patterns. Bring a friend or come on your own for a casual summer fun social gathering of dip dying and garden wandering.

Please wear cloths you won’t mind getting a splash of blue upon.

This workshop is led by Jane Ireland. Jane is a professional chef, organic master gardener, cultivator of natural plant dyes, indigo artist, weaver and avid hiker. In 2015 Jane’s interest in the history of indigo took her to the mountains outside of Tokyo to study with Bryan Whitehead, an indigo dye master and silk worm farmer.
